Agreement reached: Barcelona wins race for another massive transfer deal
The transfer window may be closed but Barcelona have been following up on transfer talks and have landed themselves on of the best talents in Europe.
According to French news outlet, Le10Sport, Barcelona and Antoine Griezmann have reached an agreement in principle in view of a future transfer.
Griezmann’s links to Barcelona dates back to the summer. But with Atletico’s transfer ban, the club shot his buy-out clause to 200 million euros to make sure he remains and put him out of reach for clubs like Manchester United and Barcelona.
Manchester United were initially tipped to sign the French attacker, but the latest claims means Barcelona have won the race. Griezmann himself had admitted over the weekend that they was no fresh contact from Jose Mourinho over moving to Old Trafford.
The azulgrana only followed up on their earlier interest and have now reached an agreement with Griezmann’s representatives.
Greizmann is expected to earn around 20 million euros per season at Barcelona.
The deal would go through next summer assuming Barcelona can reach an agreement with Atletico Madrid.
Griezmann burst onto the scene in 2014, after scoring 22 goals in one season.
