Barcelona promises to prevent key player from leaving to make team strong for Messi
The Barcelona squad is admittedly not at its strongest at the moment and the Barcelona board are determined to bring in more talents as soon as possible.
And such a weakend squad has seen Barcelona miss out on a number of trophies both domestically and in Europe.
One player that has directly felt the impact has been Lionel Messi who has lost the FIFA Best and Balon d’Or to arch rival Cristiano Ronaldo.
Messi’s loss has nothing to do with his individual performances, but because of the warped way the awards are given out as the player with the most trophies wins the award.
Messi needs a strong team and that is what he would get. But as Barcelona look forward to adding more strength, teams are also preparing to make moves on their own players.
Samuel Umtiti has already popped up on the radar of Manchester United. Umtiti and been brilliant in the team and gives the assurance that the Barcelona defense would do their part as the offensive players battle to get goals.
Barcelona have assured that the defender would not leave and are confident he would sign that contract extension next year.
Umtiti’s release clause currently stands at just 60 million euros, but would increase to 180 million euros with the new deal.
