Chelsea’s decision to bring Ake was because a defender has a serious injury
A few days ago Chelsea announced they had recalled Nathan Ake back from his loan spell at Bournemouth.
The Dutch defender has been a real revelation for the Cherries since his season-long loan last season.
He played consistently at left-back and his confidence in the center-back position is enviable.
It’s a dream come true for the youngster who now has a chance to fight for a place in the Chelsea team for the rest of the season.
And according to reports from the Evening Standard, Ake would definitely have his chances due to the fitness of Marcos Alonso.
The Spaniard arrived from Fiorentina for £23million last summer and started his career at Stamford Bridge with some muscular discomfort in his upper leg.
His injury is the major reason why Ake was recalled back from Bournemouth. So far, the 26-year-old hasn’t been forced out of action because the injury, but as time progressed, it became worse.
Alonso has started the last 14 games for the Blues and was a part of the 13-match consecutive wins for Chelsea.
With a cover for his position, Alonso is expected to be given a rest to recuperate while Ake proves a point to Conte.
