Cristiano Ronaldo’s exit intentions from Real Madrid has continued to generate headlines. The 32-year-old had told the his teammates he was not returning to Madrid next season and the decision was irreversible.
The news emerged after reports of his tax fraud case came to light. Ronaldo stands accused of defrauding the Spanish government of 14.7 million euros which he strongly denied.
His agent Jorge Mendes has told the club that he has numerous offers and want a ‘new challenge’.
And Mirror Sport now says Ronaldo had decided to leave Real Madrid about six weeks ago. Ronaldo and Ferguson have remained close since his £80million move to Real Madrid in 2009.
They have continued to maintian contact and Fergie wanted to resign him in 2013. The two met recently at a function in which Ronaldo indicated to the Scot that he felt unloved at Real Madrid and let down by some of the fans who had at times booed him despite his amazing goal-scoring feats for the Spanish giants.
He told Ferguson that the dressing room atmosphere was often strained and was nothing like what he felt at Manchester United.
Ferguson would want a return, but it remains unclear if he would be welcomed by Jose Mourinho.
