Eden Hazard had best reply when asked about facing Barcelona or PSG in UCL last 16
Atletico Madrid traveled to London to battle Chelsea in a must-win match in West London to progress out of Gorpu C and into the next round of the Champions League.
Diego Simeone’s players had to rush their pre-match warm up after their bus arrived late in west London.
And got off to a good start when Saul Niguez headed past Chelsea goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois early in the second-half after poor defending by Tiemoue Bakayoko.
But in the end Chelsea were able to summon a late charge and equalised when former Manchester City defender Stefan Savic deflected a low drive by Eden Hazard into his own net.
Going into the next round of 16 would be Chelsea and AS Roma.
As runners-up in the group, Chelsea can only face group winners in the last 16, and would also not be playing teams from England.
This means that if Liverpool join Manchester City, Manchester United and Tottenham in winning their gorup, Chelsea’s next opponents would either be PSG, Besiktas or Barcelona.
Here’s what Eden Hazard told BT Sport about facing either Barcelona or PSG.
“Its not a problem.” he said.
“We are Chelsea and were are a top team and we can face any team.”
“We know Barcelona and PSG are very strong but we are Chelsea and we can do any thing”
But despite Hazard’s confidence, the Blues are not looking capable of matching Europe’s finest teams.
Chelsea took only one point from two games against Roma and conceded six goals indicating some serious work still needs to be done on the team by Antonio Conte.
