Klopp backtracks and Barcelona fans love what he said about Coutinho’s January move
Barcelona’s summer interest in Philippe Coutinho was well documented as Liverpool made sure they didn’t let the Brazilian get his dream move.
As many as three offers were submitted by the Catalans with the third and final offer reaching £119million.
Coutinho did his part to force through a move as he submitted a transfer request to the club. But in the end, the decision was solely in the hands of Liverpool owners, Fenway Sports Group.
Barcelona and Coutinho were relatively helpless due to the last contract the playmaker signed with the Anfield club in January which stretches up to June 2022.
After an unsuccessful summer, Barcelona are looking at the winter transfer window and Jurgen Klopp has made some curious comments.
When asked about Coutinho’s future in his pre-match conference ahead of the game against Sparktk Moscow, Klopp was not sure about what would happen.
Rather than say something like: “I am 100% certain he is staying”, the German’s reply was far from assuring to the Liverpool fans.
When asked what made him sure the playmaker would still be at Anfield beyond January’s transfer window, Klopp said: “Nothing – but I don’t think about it, I think about the Moscow game.
“Not for one second have I thought about that so far. I am not unsure, I am not sure, I don’t think about it.
“I have a team to prepare and no one knows what will happen in the nice and calm January transfer window. ”
“It’s nice from an outside view but I have absolutely nothing to say.”

Klopp on Coutinho future: I am not sure, or unsure (if he will be here in February). I don’t think about it.
