Lionel Messi beats Roberto Carlos to make Champions League history
Barcelona took on Sporting Clube de Portugal at the Camp Nou on Tuesday night in their final Group D game of the season.
The match was relatively meaningless to Barcelona regarding their progress in the competition as they were already guaranteed to go through as table leaders.
And it was not surprising to see Lionel Messi stat of the bench against Sporting CP.
But the Barcelona ace would eventually get his chance in the 61st minute of the game as he came on to replace Aleix Vidal int he match.
Messi’s substitution now means he has beat Real Madrid legend Roberto Carlos to an incredible bit of history.
In Barcelona’s last Champions League match against Juventus, Messi equalled Carlos’ record s the South American with the most Champions League League appearances.
