Messi names four teams that Argentina would be careful of in the World Cup
Argentina had a turbulent journey to earn their ticket to the 2018 Russia World Cup as an incredible performance from Lionel Messi moved them into third on the CONMEBOL standings.
Messi bagged a hat-trick against Ecuador ensuring the Argentines get to Russia.
All their focus would be on the summer showpiece in Russia and Messi has some teams Argentina should be wary of.
“I believe we have the necessary time to improve in these games before the World Cup.” he noted.
“We would have a month to get everything sorted for the start (of the World Cup). I had good matches, or good times with Sampaoli, but it was a mixed pressure with the desire to win.”
“We went through a tough spell.”
“It is not easy to play in those moments, with many new guys, many guys who were not used to going through that moment with the National Team, and that makes you play differently.”
“But it’s true that we have to improve if we aspire to be world champions.
“As we are today, we are not far from that although there are better teams than us such as Brazil, Germany, France and Spain.
“The criticism went beyond normal and went beyond football. The bitterness we feel is because we know what awaits us if we do badly.
“People want results and, if they don’t get results, they want new faces.”
