Messi disagrees over Neymar’s comment on Coutinho
Philippe Coutinho completed his 160 million euro record-breaking transfer to Barcelona this week as a new adventure begins for hi in Catalonia.
Barcelona beat off competition from Paris Saint Germain to grab the signature of the midfielder. The brain behind PSG’s interest is believed to be Neymar who alerted his new club that Coutinho would be a great addition.
But in the end, the playmaker decided to join Barcelona who had been after him for the last four months.
Reports via Don Balon says Neymar is not too pleased with Coutinho’s decision.
Neymar has said that Coutinho would find himself playing in the shadows of Luis Suarez and Lionel Messi, something he (Neymar) did for four years and became tired of.
However, Messi does not share the same view and knows that contrary to popular believe, he cannot be the only shinning star in the team.
A good example is back in the days on Xavi and Iniesta who still made a name for themselves despite what was going on around them.
Messi knows Coutinho’s ability would see him make the headlines just as much as any other outstanding player in the team.
There has also been questions raised about Dembele’s future should Valverde decide to deploy Coutinho in attack. The Frenchman has the next few weeks, before Coutinho is fully fit, to completely win the heart of Valverde.
