Messi would welcome Tottenham Hotspurs superstar to Barcelona
With Barcelona being linked to various top talents around Europe it would be interesting to see who they succeed in signing when the transfer window comes around.
A report via Sportsmail, has revealed that Messi has reportedly identified Dele Alli as a must-have signing for the club.
Barcelona are not the only ones interested in the youngster as Real Madrid are also keenly following his progress.
Los Blancos has been long-time admirers of the Spurs sensation, but Messi thinks Alli would be key in Barcelona’s midfield.
Andres Iniesta is 33-years-old, and the Barcelona midfield is obviously lacking good talent.
Spurs signed the 21-year-old from MK Dons in 2015 and is now a regular starter with the England senior team. In addition, he has scored 31 league goals in 80 games for the north Londoners.
But it appears Alli is not top on the list of Barcelona as they are more interested in pursuing Leon Goretzka, who has been in stunning form for Schalke this season — while they also retain an interest in Liverpool star Philippe Coutinho.
Alli seems happy in north London, with Spurs battling for the Premier League title, but hinted earlier this year that he could be willing to leave in the future.
‘We all want to achieve stuff,’ the 21-year-old told Sky Sports.
‘It’s a good place to be, and with the manager we’ve got here I can’t see many better places for me personally to improve.
‘It’s a fantastic club to be a part of. We’re all looking to learn together and build together and be as successful as we can.
‘You never say what’s going to happen in the future, no-one knows, no-one can predict it.
‘For me, it’s important that I enjoy the journey — whether I stay at Tottenham for the rest of my career or one day I have to leave and it’s the right thing for me to do.’
