Lucas Dign gives good news on Samuel Umtiti
Lucas Digne joined Barcelona in the same transfer window when Barcelona signed Samuel Umtiti from Olympique Lyon.
Life for the two Frenchmen are currently in their second season at the Camp Nou.
Umtiti has had a more dominant role in the Barcelona team and has established himself in the center-back position along with Gerard Pique.
Speaking in an interview with Equinox magazine via SPORT, Digne gave an update on the recovery process of Umtiti.
Umtiti picked up a hamstring injury in Barcelona’s last league game against Celta Vigo and has been ruled out for two months.
“His recovery has started and he’s going carefully, without hurrying.” he said.
“He’s a great professional and he knows what he’s doing.”
The left-back was given a start by Ernesto Valverde in their midweek game against Sporting Lisbon.
“The Champions League is the biggest competition that a player can play in.” Digne continued.
“It’s always motivating when you hear the song before the game. For me, it’s great to play. I had a good game and we won. It was important to keep going unbeaten.
“Now we have difficult games before Christmas at Villarreal and the Bernabeu against Real Madrid, but we have to keep working like we’ve done since the start of the season.”
“We’ll see what happens.”
