REVEALED: What Neymar wants to do to win Ballon d’Or ahead of Ronaldo and Messi
Neymar is undoubtedly among the best players in the modern game of football and has been tipped to take over the throne from Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.
But at 25-years-old he is really lagging behind the two players in terms of achievements when it comes to the Ballon d’Or.
Messi was crowned the best player in the world at just 22-years-old and Ronaldo won the accolade at 23-years-old.
But Neymar has plan to make sure he wins the coveted Ballon d’Or as soon as possible.
And he feels that opportunity would be present to him in next year’s World Cup in Russia.
The Brazilian began his march for the Ballon d’Or with his move to Paris Saint Germain this summer. That move now means votes from France do not have to be split between Neymar and Lionel Messi again.
PSG would do well in the Ligue 1 and are favorites to win the league title. And the Paris club are also ready to give their all in the Champions league with their deadly MCN attack.
But the key for Neymar would be winning the World Cup with Brazil which would put him ahead of the likes of Ronaldo and Messi.
Brazil where by far the strongest teams in the South American qualifying games and Neymar is relishing his chances of lifting the World Cup.
And should Argentina manage to win the World Cup in Russia, it certainly won’t be Neymar or Ronaldo winning the award.
One man who is backing Neymar to win the Ballon d’Or is Cavani, who despite his issues with Neymar on the field, is offering his full support.
“I spoke with him and told him what I thought, but they’re things that stay in the dressing room,” he told Ovacion. “I’m not going to tell you what we said to each other.”
“The only thing I want is that all those who join the team do so with the intention of fighting for the team’s goals. Individual honours will come because the team does well, that means everyone is working well.
“And if we have the best in the world, that’s great for me. I have said several times I want him to have the Ballon d’Or because if that happens it means he’ll have scored lots of goals and he’ll have helped us win things. And what I want is to win things, that’s what interests me.”
