Italian football icon Paolo Maldini tells Verratti to join Barcelona
Marco Varratti and Paris Saint Germain could be putting an end to their five-year union this summer.
Despite expressing his desire to leave Paris, the super-rich club have maintained he was going nowhere. PSG are not in need of money and are capable of offering Verratti whatever he wants.
But his desire to leave is born out of his need for more glory and recognition in Europe.
Italian legendary defender Paolo Maldini has backed the 24-year-old’s decision and has urged him to join Barcelona.
“Verratti is extraordinary, with qualities that I appreciate very much, and I think he is destined to improve if he leaves Paris [Saint-Germain] to try a new experience.” Maldini told Calciomercato.com.
“Barcelona would be, of course, an ideal destination for him and I think he too would be a perfect player for Barcelona.”
Juventus and Chelsea are the other clubs interested in signing the midfielder. But it his believed his desire is to join Barcelona.
