Huge concerns over Ivan Rakitic’s contract renewal with Barcelona
There has been a so much talk about Ivan Raktitic’s future over the last couple of days.
The Croatian international has fallen victim to Luis Enrique’s squad rotation sparking questions about hia future.
Reports from his home country Croatia, have linked the midfielder with a move to Manchester City after his recent snub for Barcelona’s league games.
He was completely left out of the team to face Villarreal and sat on the bench for the previous two league games.
Barcelona have rubbished such claims of an exit and say talks are in motion.
But how well are the talks progressing?
According to Spanish media Marca, the club and player are still a long way from coming to an agreement.
Rakitic is no longer a guaranteed starter and discussion have been progressing slowly… too slowly we may add.
No agreement has been reach regarding the length of the new deal and the wage the Croatian would receive, which is quiet disappointing considering talks have been on for months.
The 28-year-old’s current deal runs out in 2019 and Barcelona are in no rush on a renewal. Instead, the club have other urgent contracts to sort out first like Messi, Iniesta and Ter Stegen.
Meanwhile, Rakitic was restored back to the team by Luis Enrique for their return leg at the Camp Nou against Atheltic Bilbao.
