Many fans didn’t see what the referee did to Ernesto Valverde
Barcelona were held to a disappointing 0-0 draw against Getafe at the Camp Nou, cutting their lead at the top of the La Liga table to 7 points.
Getafe came to the match to defend and chances for Barcelona to score in the game were very few.
But they was a curious incident in the 41st minute of the game as Barcelona coach, Ernesto Valverde was booked by referee, Fernandez Borbalan.
Valverde’s offense was for coming off the bench and protesting to Getafe’s coach, Jose Bordalas who told his team to continue playing even though Luis Suarez was down.
The referee wrote in his report that Valverde was punished “for making observations about one of my decisions in a show of disagreement.”
Meanwhile, Valverde said after the match: “We were lacking some freshness and rhythm, especially in the first half.”
“Getafe are a team who stop you from playing so you don’t get close to their box.”
“As the game went on we attacked more and more and despite our best efforts it wasn’t to be.”
“They defended their box well and we lacked a bit of spark”, explained the manager.
