Champions League team of the week announced with very surprising exclusion
Europe’s elite competition returned back this week as the biggest teams across Europe battled to kick-off their Champions League campaign with a win.
After the round of games played over two days; Tuesday and Wednesday, the team of the week has been revealed.
The big shocker was the omission of Lionel Messi from the list.
You would think Messi did enough to make it to the best XI considering he scored a brace against one of the best defense in the world with a goalkeeper like Buffon at the back.
In addition, Leo was also instrumental in Barcelona’s second goal of the game with a scintillating run down the right.
But according to UEFA, players like Kane, Ronaldo and Cavani who scored against Dortmund, APOEL Nicosia and Celtic respectively, all deserved to be on the team.
The team of the week is: Alisson (Roma); Zappacosta (Chelsea), Stones (Manchester City), Sergio Ramos (Real Madrid), Azpilicueta (Chelsea); Kimminch (Bayern), Pardo (Olympiacos), Fellaini (Manchester United); Cavani (PSG), Kane (Tottenham) and Cristiano Ronaldo (Real Madrid).
